The National Energy Board (NEB) and Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) are tasked with ensuring that corporations comply. The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) has developed a draft security standard for Canada, which is anticipated to be adopted by the NEB in late 2009 or early 2010.
All companies with Critical Facilities identified under Directive 71 must adhere to the Federal and Provincial security requirements. Organizations with operations and/or connections in both Canada and the USA need to comply with Homeland Security Advisory System (HSAS) threat level protocols as well as the Canadian RCMP security escalation protocols for Canada.
