The Monthly Newsletter From ComplyWorks
Welcome to the first edition of NewsWorks, our new monthly newsletter.
In the past couple of years, ComplyWorks has grown from our roots as a contractor prequalification registry for the oil and gas industry into a full featured contractor and supplier management system that’s used in a variety of industries in Canada, the United States, Europe and South Africa. This has created new opportunities for ComplyWorks and for you, our customers. NewsWorks will keep you up-to-date about these opportunities—from valuable new features to completely new ways to benefit from contractor and supplier management.
As always, if you have suggestions on how we can improve NewsWorks or subjects you’d like to know more about, let us know.
Thanks for your continued support,
Cal Fairbanks

Employers: New Team Subsets Features
In December, we released an update of our team subsets feature. With the added functionality, employers can better organize contractors the way they organize their business:
- Quickly drill-down through subsets to find contractors that meet specific criteria.
- Group your contractors by region, services offered, size, or any other combination of criteria that is relevant to your business.
- Create as many levels of subgroups as you need. For example, you could create a “Region” team that breaks contractors down by province, city/town, and finally service type. So to find a welder in Grande Prairie, Alberta, you’d select the “Region” team, then the “Alberta”, “Grande Prairie” and “Welder” subsets.
- Assign contractors to more than one subset. In the above example, if ACME Welding operates in Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray in Alberta, and Fort St. John in B.C., you could assign it to the “Grande Prairie” and “Fort McMurray” subsets in “Alberta”, and the “Fort St. John” subset in “British Columbia.”
To find out how to take advantage of the new team subsets features, contact your account manager or send us an email at support@complyworks.com.
Contractors: Updated Safety Stats Due February 1
If you’ve already updated your safety stats, thank you and read no further! If you haven’t, your 2010 safety stats are due by February 1. If they haven’t been updated by then, you may show as yellow (medium risk) to your employers. If you haven’t updated your safety stats by March 1, you may show red (high risk).

Tips & Tricks: How To Create A Custom (Silent) Ringtone For ComplyWorks Alerts Notifications
Our Help Desk and Account Managers receive a lot of questions about how to create a custom ringtone on their BlackBerrys for AlertWorks compliance change notifications. In particular, those who need to leave their BlackBerry’s on and beside their beds to take urgent calls ask about creating a silent ringtone that won’t wake them up at 5 a.m. when the compliance change notifications are sent out!
Thanks to Dawn Yaschuk at Compton Petroleum for the idea and sending us her instructions. The following steps are for creating a notification exception for AlertWorks emails on BlackBerry Curve smart phones, but the basic steps should work on any BlackBerry devices.
- Go to Address Book on your Blackberry.
- Press the Menu key (to left of trackball).
- Click New Address.
- Create a new address with the name “ComplyWorks Alerts” and the email address alertworks@complyworks.com
- Press the Escape key (to right of trackball).
- Highlight Save and click once to save the new address.
- In the profile list, click Advanced.
- Press the Menu key.
- Click New Exception.
- In the Exception field, type a name for the profile exception (e.g. Silence Alerts).
- In the From field, press the Menu key.
- Click Add Name.
- Select “ComplyWorks Alerts” from your list of contact addresses.
- Set the Use Profile field to Off.
- Set Custom Phone Tune to MUTE.
- Press the Menu key.
- Click Save.
Done! No more 5 a.m. wake up emails.
