Online Orientations & Training
Keep Employees Out of the Classroom and on the Job
Contractors, suppliers and individuals need general and site-specific orientations, along with competency training, in order to meet regulatory requirements, keep up with industry advances, and be compliant with your corporate policies. CourseWorks lets them take industry-recognized online courses, custom courses, and general and site-specific orientations from anywhere with an Internet connection. This lets them avoid the time and expense associated with classroom-based courses, and to report on-site ready to work.
Employees that are Ready to Work
By letting employees complete their training and orientations online instead of in a classroom, CourseWorks enables them to learn what they need to know online and report on-site ready to work. This saves everyone time and money, from the employees who otherwise have to take time off to attend pricey classes, to the administrative personnel who currently have to keep paper- and spreadsheet-based training records.
Auditable Training Records
By replacing spreadsheets and paper-based procedures with digital records, CourseWorks gives both the individual and the organization a real-time view of training records. Test results, sign-off and acknowledgement are recorded to let you communicate training requirements to individuals, track who's received notifications, and audit who's taken which courses. Users can even print off handy wallet-sized certification cards to show when they arrive at the work site. And in the office, management can ensure that health, safety, environment and other policies are being followed.
Industry-Recognized Courses
CourseWorks currently provides a wide range of general safety and industry-specific courses online, and can be used to deliver company-specific videos, PDFs, training and orientations. The courses available are recognized by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH) and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), and meet their Certification Maintenance Points criteria. The University of Calgary also allows students to earn up to 30 hours of elective course credit in the Health, Safety and Environment Certificate program.
For the oil and gas industry, Petroleum Safety Training (PST) meets all of the requirements for IRP 16 - Basic Safety Awareness Training and is recognized by the Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA), when accompanied by Enform's Safe-T components, as equivalent to its Construction Safety Training System (CSTS).
General & Site-specific Orientations/Inductions
An increasing number of employing organizations are using CourseWorks to deliver general and site-specific orientations and inductions online. These let individuals complete orientations and inductions before they arrive at the jobsite, and get to work quicker. Site supervisors can quickly see who's completed the required orientations and inductions, and management can audit compliance with corporate policies.
